Odin is back home after a successful surgery and an overnight stay at the hospital for monitoring! He got to go home to his foster earlier today where he’s been getting lots of love and rest. Why do we need a Rescue Revolution!
Well, let's start with the fact that 334,000 dogs were euthanized in US shelters, not because of aggression or illness, but due to a lack of space and resources. In 2024, five states accounted for over half of all dogs euthanized in shelters: Texas, California, North Carolina, Florida, and Alabama. While millions of shelter animals were saved, euthanasia remains a concern, particularly in these states. We are still at a rate that 49% of dogs surrendered in 2024 were either euthanized or died in the care of the shelter or rescue.
Adopting a dog from a shelter or rescue is the fastest way to reduce these staggering numbers. We also need to spay or neuter the dogs we rescue, to help slow down the birth rate.
